Site
The reason for being:
I set up this site for the same reason I imagine most people set up theirs - to write about day-to-day life and discuss what I love and loathe. This site doesn’t have a particular focus (apart from indulging my narcissism), but my main areas of interest are the media, music, film, books, television and sport.
A short history about nearly everything:
Once upon a time, long long ago, I stumbled across a site called Geocities. I knew absolutely nothing about coding and relied on copying and pasting code from Neopets help sites into the PageBuilder. I hated the PageBuilder because it never did what I wanted it to do, and I quickly abandoned the idea of having a site. I tried again in November 2003 (Freewebs this time), and a passion was born. I have since been hosted (by Nadia, of lucidmuse.net, Kayla, of fiori-di-carta.org and Andrea, of winter-eclipse.net), joined the Quilting Bee (mostly during 2004) and experimented with coding and making layouts. I lost interest in the coding and layout aspects of site building in 2006, but still enjoyed blogging and thinking of ideas for content. I was considering complete closure, but opted for a WordPress hosted site instead. Emily, I think is now a happy home for me to sharpen my writing skills and interact with the rockstars of the internet.
Emily, I think?
I am awful with site names. None of them ever truly capture what I’m like as a person, and the ones I did think of were taken. I don’t know. This one has grown on me. E-mail me if you know a good reason why I chose it.
Your layout sucks:
I used to make my own layouts, but I have never been fond of converting my ideas into working versions. I try to find the je ne sais quois out of the wordpress.com free themes instead. I dislike something about every one of them, to be quite honest, but that’s what you get when you’re too cheap to pay for the custom CSS.
Get in touch:
I check my e-mail pretty frequently, so if you want to you can drop me a line at dialjupiter[at]gmail.com. It doesn’t matter what you want to say as long as it’s not excessively rude. I’m a sensitive soul.
